1 Selangor : PR under the spotlight...

If the scale is tipping against BN's favour with the numerous exposures on mismanagements involving millions and billions of ringgit in projects such as that of Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ), elevated highway MRR2, stadium Sultan Mizan, things are not much brighter for Pakatan Rakyat too.

In Selangor, there are allegations that the present state government is dispensing the waste management contracts on a 40-30-30 ratio of PKR-DAP-PAS. The allegation first surfaced out when Petaling Jaya councillor highlights the dubious dealings involving Alam Flora and the state government. The councillor streamlined the claim when he said that 70 % of Alam Flora contracts are handled by contractors picked by the state government.

Responding to the allegation, MB Khalid Ibrahim said an audit committee will be set up to ensure that alam flora's contracts are awarded to "genuine operators".

So what does this allegation revealed? Simply put, the allegation shows that the rakyat is still being played out by the politicians. And this time by Pakatan Rakyat coalition of PKR, DAP and PAS. Whether the allegation is true or not is immaterial. The allegation is made by Pakatan Rakyat's appointed councillor. In fact he is a registered member of one of the Pakatan's parties. If this allegation is made by state opposition, then we can rubbish it down, as they can be made with bad intentions.

The question now is why the need for the formation of audit committee? Are we creating a watchdog to look after another watchdog? Is Khalid acknowledging that there is some dubious dealings going on in Alam Flora? If Pakatan Rakyat is practising dubious dealings, then who can the rakyat turn too? If the allegations are true, then the rakyats are sandwiched between hungry wolves and crocodiles. What makes it worse is Pakatan Rakyat swept into power because they promised clean, fair and transparent government. Maybe they are sticking to their slogans but apparently there are those in Pakatan Rakyat who relies on legally correct manouvres without giving a hoot on moral rights. If this is true, then there is no difference between Pakatan Rakyat and Barisan Nasional. Both with bad apples in their bushels. It is a matter of which bushels has more bad apples.

Another question is, if this can happen in Selangor, what guarantees do we as the rakyat has that the same is not happening in Kedah, Penang, Perak, Kelantan? Pakatan Rakyat has more than enough ample time to address issues. It has been more than 1 year since March 2008. This is time for delivery and Pakatan Rakyat better start delivering now. Pakatan Rakyat has no more excuses. Before, Pakatan Rakyat claimes that they are not in power to govern the states so they could not do much and promise heaven and earth. Now that Pakatan Rakyat is in power in those 5 states, they have no more excuses.

If Pakatan Rakyat can generate into dubious dealings barely a year after gaining control of Selangor, imagine what they will do if they are given the chance to govern the state for the next 50 years. I shudder at the thoughts...

However, we still need more courageous souls as that of the councillors to come forward and expose Pakatan's misdeeds. It is not because we hate Pakatan but because we care for the rakyat. We have placed our trust to Pakatan to run the state and Pakatan must return out trust with good governance, not by talks only but by actions and deeds.

Anwar may be still smiling as he managed to bag prize catch Zaid Ibrahim, but smiles alone will not last long and will not go far. Anwar must steer Pakatan to deliver, deliver and deliver...Can he do that or will he be court tied in fighting his sodomy trial which is coming up for hearing in July 2009.

Pakatan may still be governing Selangor but the excess baggage has started to pile up. Pakatan Rakyat needs to dispense and rid the baggage now...Can they? would they?

Till then...G'nite M'sia...wherever u are...

Nightcaller,
Don't forget to question Hassan Ali. He's in charge of works & infrastructure. Yup, He's from PAS. Part of Hadi Awang Team
Like it or not, PAS has 2 groups. Nik admitted too. It seems PKR seen to be better than PAS. With such asseurance from Nik, the moderates must do something of gaining control of PAS before PAS goes down the hill.
I believe even LKY knew it too when he met up with Nik. PAS need a moderate successor. It must be Husam not Nasha to lead

looes74

Still, DAP seems to be more stable among the three. Yet, they are treated as a junior party. Lets not have one party being dominant over the other. Lets have 3 equally balanced parties in PR. With this, I strongly suggest of having a much stronger DAP with some malay professional candidates standing for Perak state election

Looes 74,

The EXCO in charge of local council os Ronnie Liu. Hassan Ali's portfolio did not cover local council.

PAS need to heed to Nik Aziz's call and that i swhy id the recent Hadi Awang's press statement, Hadi list out the conditions if any meeting is to take place. And the conditions are akin to Putri Gunung Ledang's list to Sultan Mansor of Melaka :).

Of the 3, PAS is the junior member, by virtue of the parliament seats that they secure. And that is also why I have been pressing that DAP/PAS/PKR must sit down and formalise PR so that a clear guideline can be defined...

DAP can use the same method when approaching Malay professionals like how they manage to get Manoharan, Charles Santiago and other NGOs' to contest in elections using DAP platform....

Nightcaller,
Don't put too much trust on Hadi. Worst still, Hassan Ali. Looking over all the press statements made by these guys, don't seem that they are part of PR.
In fact, Hadi made the comment that PAS shall be the backbone of PR causing Karpal Singh to go balistic

Nightcaller,
Hassan Ali still call the shots especially he would be the one spreadheading in approving infrastructural projects. Public Works are under the purview of Hassan Ali.
Ronnie Liu is in charge of the KPIs of all town councillors & in the process hiring & firinf town councilloers. Contractors are the one getting the jobs not town councillors. Who dish out the contracts. Hassan Ali, the PAS Ulama man

Nightcaller,
I don't think PAS act as if they are junior party. Worst still, comments by people like Hadi causes a lot of uneasiness among PR members. Imagine telling all PRs agreeing to UG when it's not true. Knew why LGE made the comment......Hadi not responsible to men but also God
Ultimate Hadi action leads to Karpal's outburst. "Hadi is a disgrace to PR through his comment on Unity Government."
Hadi made the Gunung Ledang list after kenna tekan from all coners including Nik Aziz, the wise one.
Taking about seting precondition, Karpal is one best fella

Nightcaller,
I am seeing another PAP in the making in PAS. Nik Aziz, Husam Musa & the moderates must do something fast. God knows, Hadi & his hulubalang2 might do a "Lee Siew Choh" on the moderates
By the way, Nasha has yet to spologise to TGNA.

Nightcaller,
I am commenting in your blog as your friend. Sometimes, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going

Anon 11:12 pm

Thks. I never regard anybody as my enemy :) We are here to share our thoughts and differences...

As far back as 1st March 2009, I have state my stand against Hj Hadi if he were to work together with UMNO as per my posting http://dnightcaller.blogspot.com/2009/03/mengenai-pas-hadi-dan-batu-batunya.html That the posting is in Malay.

Anon,
Hadi canclaim whatever he wants like Karpal can claims what he wants. The keypoint is that DAP/PAS/PKR needs each other to face the BN juggernaut. Karpal is a loose cannon. He even lambasted LKS but that's his style. The same goes to Hadi, he wants to potray his importance as backbone to PR...so what. Let him be the backbone..Can backbone alone survive without flesh and blood? You see, backbone needs the flesh (muscle) to build the form and needs blood to give movement...Moral of the story? They need each other. period.

Anon

If you are referring to Alam Flora, the contracts are awarded by Alam Contracts to the contractors. However, the claim is that the state government (read local government) is determining the 40:30:30 ratio. If you read furtehr, the councillor (whistleblower) specifically challenge Ronnie Liu to prove him wrong. So I take it that the Alam Flora has something to do with Ronnie and not Hassan Ali.

Anon

PAS can act how it wishes to act. I have no problem with that but the fact is still there. PAS is the junior party by virtue that they have the least seats amongst the 3 PR partners. And I did not see PAS trying to deny that. Remember when DAP has more parliamentary seats in 2001? Hadi surrenders his Opposition leader post to Lim Kit Siang. The same happens in late 90's when Lim Kit Siang surrenders his opposition leader post to Hadi Awang. The reason? The party with the most parliamentary seats is elected as the opposition leader.

I agree with you that Hadi cornered for his unsavoury thoughts on unity government. Nik Aziz has make it clear, the delegates has make it clear - no unity government with UMNO/BN. Hadi needs to toe the line because PAS members are ready to turn against him if he keeps on persisting on unity government...

Anon

Nasha may not be publicly apologising to TGNA but in private he may have done so. TGNA is wise and he is not a person who seeks open apology. Nasha needs some "face" and I think TGNA is giving him face.

Anon or is it Looes74?

I always regards you as a friend, although we never face each other ohysically...:) Take care, friend...When the tough gets going, would love to have you on our side to fight for our future, Malaysian future...

Nightcaller,
It's in the news. Tongue lashing on Nasha by TGNA. Seriously, Nasha either deliberately wanted to pursue the UG agenda or have PR problem.
Aiyah, admit it. PAS does have 2 groups. Well, it seems that some Ulama group including Hassan Ali got a lot more answering to do especially on Alam Flora.
That councillor, Thiru fella is challenging the wrong person. The one who approves infrastructural projects is Hassan Ali.
Ronnie Liu is in charge of hiring & firing councillors like Thiru. In fact, Ronnie should be extremely glad in spearheading the investigations
You can link with Ronnie Liu with Hassan Ali. But that would like the rest of the Excos plus MB through collective responsibilities

Nightcaller,
Take note that Hassan Ali is the Exco for charing the Infrastrutural & Public Work Commitees. Certain decisions can be made with the commitee. If Khlaid & Ronnie does not know about, Hassan got to face the music.
I don't really trust Hassan Ali. There are simply too many statements made by Hassan that does not bode well with the rest of PRs. It does not even reflect cohesiveness
One incident is Hassan's comment that Nizar must be MB even if PAS left with one adun. I am ok with that till Hassan decided to make such call in front of the crowd in Bukit Melawati Stadium........
Trust me, Khalid Samad shares my sentiment too.

Nightcaller,
Cohesiveness is important. It can only acheive if all PR component parties treating each other equally. One comment by Hadi that Karpal went balistic

1) PAS shall be the backbone party in PR
Humility & Humbleness should be the key.

Serves Nasha right> Frankly, he's having PR problem...not Pakatan rakyat but Public Relations :)

PAS is still in one group but the top leadership seems to deviate from the Muktamar resolutions and aspirations. If tings come to shove, most probably PAS will stand by TGNA...

Hassan Ali has been on the receiving end since the day Khalid Samad expose Hassan's secret rendzevous with AAB and Khir Toyo the nights after 8th March 2008. Guss, he still has the BTN behaviour with him...PAS needs to flush out the moles early or else PAS may be in for massive internal struggle....

However, I still trust that GNA, with his wisdom, can still pull PAS out of the cauldron of imaginative recipe cooked up by Nasha & gang...

It won't be long now...PAS needs to settle this before Manik Urai...

Thks for sharing thoughts..Looes74

Nightcaller,
Well, guess why I am asking you guys to read about the early history of PAP. It exactly the same thing happenning again. It happens in Gerakan too
Yup, TGNA would be able to pull things together with Husam & his trusted lieutenants. Honestly, PAS can only move beyond existing boundaries with Husam & the co with TGNA as "PAS" mentor.
Forgive me if be rude. I wish TGNA would stay on strong (I mean his health) till things tide over.
By the way, Nasha must go for a makeover especially in public relation & public speech. Aiyoo.....we have one, no several clowny Foreign Ministers......Yeah, Syed botak and the current one.....
Imagine if Nasha went overseas to make public address. Oh my goodness......

Nightcaller,
Well, it's getting wilder & wilder. That's the problem when you nail a leak, you create another one.
Nasurudin, PAS youth chief compares UG with Moses meeting with Pharoah.........

Nightcaller,
We should remind this PAS Youth that Moses met Pharoah in an open manner. No secret talk. By the way, his message is clear to Pharoah, Set Isreal free, Else the Lord our God will judge you.
Aiyaa......Why can't Hadi & the gang just make few simple statements?

1) Humbly admit your mistake
2) Denounce any Unity talk with UMNO & Stuck with Pakatan Rakyat
3) Shut Up. Full Stop

Well, don't know how to say this. Never mind, Ask Karpal Singh to make a public statement on behalf of Pakatan Rakyat & settle the issue once & for all

Oh.......Again, why use Mose analogy.......What the heck this fella is implying????? Hadi is Moses, the saviour from Egypt(Old testament of course) now......Cohesion.....Respect one & another........

looes74

nightcaller said...

Looes74

I agree with u. PAS needs to be reminded on that. They may be academics in their own rights but they need to be told the difference between Moses/Pharoah and PAS...

Hadi is not around now..let's see what he will cook up when he returns and presents his case to PKR/DAP. I, for one, will eagerly see what Hadi will say this time around. If Hadi makes a wrong statement or if his explanation is not acceptable, I won't be surprise if the PAS members will request for EGM and voted him & co out of PAS...

And I think PAS needs to send all these future leaders to leadership camp and get their perspective right. We are no longer living in caveman era...and the said leaders must start to act as one ie leaders of Malaysia which is made op different religions, race, creeds et al...

Thks Looes74...maybe time for me to sound off these leaders, my way :)

Nightcaller,
Have you watched Yes, Prime Minister. Jim Hacker has given one heck of the advice for people making press statement. Lets see:

1) Jim Hackers said,"If you don't have any better thing to say, say nothing.

2) Otherwise, make your statement without paying any attention to the questions posed by reporters

4) Plus, if you feel like answering the question. Come up with your own question with your own answer

Nightcaller,
Seriously, not only some PAS leaders need leadership course but Public Relation course. Better still, like Ronald Kiandee & Raja Petra, Watch Yes, Minister & Yes, Prime Minister. Over & over again
Sorry, to harp on Moses analogy. Quite sure that it should be the same in Quran as in Bible. Moses is very clear of what God wants. He does not mince his words. In fact, it's a decree from God to Pharoah to set Isrealites or Else. Face judgement.
Anyway, Pharoah refused to listen till the final plague that killed his eldest son. That were the day when the Isrealites eat the unleavened bread. The Passover. Pharoah only then decided to let go Isralites together with the Egyptian booties half heartedly.
Nizar too sound like Moses when he created ruckus in parliament on monday

Hidup Rakyat Bubar DUN.

Sounds familiar. Hehehehe
