Najib sanggup dukung biawak hidup...

  10. Kenapalah Najib sanggup mendukung biawak kali ini? Najib, najib...telan mati emak, luah mati bapak....

Hingga ketemu lagi...selamat malam M'sia...dimana jua anda berada...

Of 1MPM6: Carroting the public sector to support GST...

  1. 1 year on, 1MPM6 Najib is now focussing towards the 1.2 M something public servants to push through the government-initiated GST.
  2. This time, 1MPM6 coated GST with probability of wage increase to public servants, in line with high income economy.
  3. For refresher, GST stands for Goods and service Tax. The federal government decided to postpone tabling the 2nd reading of GST bill during the current parliament sitting until proper input and road-tours conducted to explain the bill.
  4. In that sense, is 1MPM6 carotting public servants with "high income wage" part of the government's planned road tour?
  5. In conjunction with his 1 year in office, 1MPM6 was interviewed by Bernama. During the course of the interview, 1MPM6 has this to say on GST and public servants' wage :-
    • The salary of 1.2M government servants can be raised on condition that their productivity level is raised and they support governments' initiative to convert Malaysia into a "high income economy" country;
    • When their productivity increase, the salary will also be rationalise accordingly in line with stronger economic standing;
    • What is more important is that with stronger economic standing, government income will also increase;
    • GST is one of the mechanism to increase government's income;
    • 1MPM6 needs the support of 1.2M public servants to push GST through;
    • the government needs to have more income to pay increment in public servant salaries;
    • The postponement of second reading of GST bill and the abolishment of 2-tiered fuel pricing are not due to political pressure. The postponement of GST bill and the abolishment of 2-tiered fuel pricing is due to the government needing more time to explain to the people on their objectives;
    • 1MPM6 accused the opposition of "twisting" the facts ON GST and 1MPM6 stressed that in the long run GST is good for the masses;
  6. You can read the rest of his interview exerpts here. Now that you have read what 1MPM6 has in mind, Najib has to address these before pledging goodies to please the government servants :-
    • Out of 1.2M public servants, how many of them pay taxes? How many percent of the public servants pay taxes to IRB?;
    • Out of these 1.2M government servants, how many of them are from PDRM and ATM? How many percent of the government servants are police and army personnels?;
    • If the government thinks of rationalising salaries and wages, shouldn't the professionals ie Doctors, engineers, accountants, degree holders etc should be given the priorities as they have been sidelined for far too long?;
    • If the government is thinking of giving salary hikes to government servants, will this be a "double" salary adjustment to the police force and the army? Is this fair to the rest?;
    • If more income to the government means salary adjustments to the government servants, what is the nett income for the government? How much more will the government earned through GST? Will the government servants exempted from GST?;
    • 1MPM6 did not address to the issue of more transperancies and accountability which may save government millions of ringgits by abolishing negotiated tender, negotiated contracts etc... By the way, is Shah Alam hospital project fall into this category? If it is, why is the government "allowing" the issue to be brought forth now? Is it because it involves non-politician from BN? Is there something brewing in Putrajaya, something connected to Shah Alam's corridors of power?;
    • 1MPM6 failed to explain how the opposition "twisted" the facts on GST. Can Najib take time off to explain what he meant by "twisting" the facts? And, actually, who is twisting the facts?;
  7. 1 year on, Najib is putting the blame on the opposition when his government failed to push through the GST bill. On top of that, he is carotting 1.2M government servants with salary adjustment. The question is - at whose expense?
  8. It also show that the government servants are no longer a guaranteed BN-vote vault. That is why Najib is working extra hard to please the 1.2M government servants. Give them salary adjustments, promise them salary rationalisation - anything at whatever cost !
  9. What happens to the private sector? Will they bear the salary adjustment? Will they bear the full force of GST? Is the government sensitive to the needs of the private sector? Is the numbers in the private sector more than the government servants? Is 1MPM6 abandoning the private sector? If so, where is his talks of liberalisation? Just talks?
  10. What is 1MPM6's plans to help the private sector? Do he has any plans to cater for the private sector?
  11. Najib always talk of 1Malaysia, he always brag that he is working on 1M approach but the way he carrots the government servants, it is clear that his 1M is only meant for government servants. As for the private sector and the self-employed - 1MPM6 says "Go, fly kite".
  12. There you have it. If you are a government servant, you may be happy with 1MPM6. However, please bear in mind that you are only a government servant till you are 55. After that, once you are retired, 1MPM6 will abandon you and cast you in the same basket as the private sector. The question is - how are you going to treat the carrot? Are you happy with 1mPM6's sweetener? Are you willing to let go of your principles because you get your salary adjusted?
  13. If you are from the private sector and the self-employed, will you be happy to foot the government servants' salary adjustment? If you are going to foot their salary adjustment - what is in it for you? Better productivity? Better service? Less under counters? Less over the tops? More quality products? Better security? These are all possible promises which comes with a heavy price tag and a big ONLY IF...
  14. Whether you are a government servant, a private sector employee, self-employed - what has BN do for the past 50+ years? Has they give us proper dues? Or is 1MPM6's carrot means that he is still treating us like "donkeys"? 1MPM6 Najib has been there as state leader and later federal leader for the past 30 years (or so) - what has he done so far to earn him our trust? Look through his stands during the Mahathir-Tg Razaleigh fight, Mahathir-Anwar stand off, Mahathir-AAB tiff. Is 1MPM6 Najib a firm man steep with principle like his father? Or is he a "lallang" who sways by the winds and the mood?
  15. It's your choice - either forever stay reigned and entice with carrots or break free to find new partners. The choice is there - choose wisely...

Zambry : Tunggu apa lagi...bubar DUN Perak!

    • memberi peluang kepada rakyat Perak untuk menentukan parti mana yang diberi kepercayaan untuk menerajui kerajaan negeri Perak;
    • memberi peluang kepada ADUN bebas untuk memilih parti politik mereka dan memberi peluang untuk parti tersebut memilih mereka kembali untuk menjadi calun di kerusi2 yang pernah mereka menangi;
    • memberi peluang untuk membetulkan kekusutan yang ditimbulkan dari pergolakan tersebut dan memberi ruang untuk pihak istana mengambil jalan tengah dalam hal ini;
    • mengembalikan keyakinan rakyat terhadap kedaulatan undang-undang dan sistem beraja Perak;
    • menyelesaikan masaalah perebutan kerusi speaker dewan;
    • memberi
    • peluang kepada rakyat untuk menentukan parti mana yang berkhidmat untuk rakyat
    • mengurangkan kedudukan PR dalam persidangan DUN dan membolehkan Zambry menjalankan dasar2 BN;
    • menggunakan kebijaksanaan beliau untuk memastikan juara2 PR saperti Nizar, Ngeh, Nga, Siva kecundang dalam pilihanraya tersebut;
    • memberi peluang dan ruang untuk Zambry memperkecilkan lagi PR;
    • mejulang nama Zambry diperingkat nasional;
    • membenarkan tindakan istana sebagai tindakan betul, selari dengan kehendak rakyat Perak;
  10. Peluang kini berada didepan mata Zambry.

SEhingga ketemu lagi...selamat malam M'sia...dimana jua anda berada...

Muhyiddin's "1 Malay" vs Najib's 1Malaysia

  1. For politicians, language is their tools of the trade. A slip of the tongue and all hell may nreak loose. Remember the time when Mahathir was alledgedly quoted "We will shoot them" when he later clarified that he said "We will shoo them"? or remember the longstanding joke on Samy Vellu saying "Saya suka buka kain..." when officiating events that calls him to draws the curtain?
  2. That was then. Now comes Muhyiddin with what may be the blooper of the decade when he said that "he is a Malay first then a Malaysian" in reponse to Lim KS's challenge in Parliament on 31st March 2010.
  3. 1MPM6 defended Muhyiddin's statement a day later and that Muhyiddin does not contradict his commitment to 1Malaysia concept. Wah! Easier said than done!
  4. My non-Malay friends are not happy with Muhyiddin and some of them simply said "Moo-yiddin" "cerdik macam lembu". My Kedah friends said that what Moo-yiddin uttered in parliament is equivalent to what Aziz, the ex=UMNO youth leader did when he threatened to burn down the Kuala Lumpur assembly hall. If Kedah can reject Aziz during GE 12, then it will be no surprise if Malaysians decide to reject BN in GE 13.
  5. A Malay proverb "Kerana mulut, badan binasa" is waiting to happen on Muhyiddin.Muhyiddin cannot claim that he is cornered by Lim KS as he has all the time in the world to repond to Lim's question. What Muhyiddin uttered is a reflection of his conviction and I see it as a conviction which is not inline with 1MPM6's 1M's concept.
  6. As the DPM, Muhyiddin should have chosen his words carefully. He did not do so.Why? Is he sending a message to PERKASA? Is he loading his gun to gun down 1MPM6? Is Muhyiddin banking on Merdeka centre's survey that roughly 65 % Malays agree with PERKASA? Is Muhyiddin purposely de-railing 1MPM6's 1M concept?
  7. Look at PERKASA. Nazri Aziz say that PERKASA are opportunists whilst Najib says that PERKASA is not extreme. Does Nazri says what he says because Mahathir is in PERKASA side? Does Najib say what he says to avoid direct confrontation with Mahathir? Are they referring PERKASA to Mahathir and not Ibrahim Ali? Will the real PERKASA stand up?
  8. Why is Muhyiddin taking the "1 Malay" path? Has Muhyiddin disregards his press officer's advice? Or has he forgotten the art of communication?
  9. My friends further retorted and said that they will declare they are Chinese (or Indians) first before they say Malaysians the next time they go abroad. Frankly, I smiled at their suggestion. However, deep down, I fear this issue will be blown out of proportion and out of control. Simply, What is wrong in saying "I am Malaysian of Malay (or Chinese or Indian or Kadazan or Dusun) origin"?
  10. What is so difficult in that? Being a Malay is not an automatic qualification that you are Malaysian. Don't come and tell me that a Malay from the Cocos island is a Malaysian and don't come running to justify that a Malay from Seychelles island is also a Malaysian. By the same reasoning, being a Chinese or Indian or Kadazan or Dusun or whatever does not qualify them as "pendatang". A Chinese or an Indian or Kadazan or Dusun or whatever born in Malaysia is a Malaysian. Period.
  11. It is a risky thing if Muhyidin (and for this matter the government) thinks that all Malays are automatically Malaysians. No wonder, we have illegals setting taking over our commercial districts in Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu and the rest of the country. Heck, I don't even know whether Nilai is in Malaysia or in Pakistan, anymore based on the numbers of Pakistani traders there. What about the "colonies" sprouting like mushrooms in KL's urban jungle? It is said that some illegal colonies at the city's fringes are manned by "look-outs" to relay warnings on impeding raids. Just go to any construction site and you will see the illegals "housing scheme" aka kongsi.
  12. Muhyiddin and 1MPM6 talked about 1Malaysia. Are they really seriously taking actions to guard the welfare of Malaysians? Do they realise how many Malaysian girls fall prey to the smooth-talking non-Malaysians? How many Malaysians were duped by the lure of black money? And goodness sake, can someone tell me why is that "Billionaire" Ellie Najeem still around? Haven't we have enough of him? Or is there some hidden hands working hard to grant him extended stay in Malaysia?
  13. 1 Malay, 1 Chinese, 1 Indian, 1 Kadazan, 1 Dusun, 1 whatever bears no consequence. What Malaysia should be aiming for is to build a Malaysian nation, rich in tradition, superb in performance, par excellence in productivity, unmatched in income. So far, the government has failed us in providing what we want. So far, it's all talk, talk and more talks. Talks of liberation, talks of high income, talk of transperancy, talks of competency but most of them are still in working stage. So, as one US ad says "Where's the beef?".
  14. Back to Muhyiddin. It is time for Muhyiddin to be "re-educated". Will BTN be able to come up with a special module to "reform" Muhyiddin? If BTN is working on that, may I make a small request? Will BTN work on a special module to accomodate Muhyiddin along with a class of say 25 and let the rest of the module members come from non-Malays? Better still, can we make it a module with non-Malay speakers - just for Muhyiddin?
  15. Muhyiddin may be busy but I trust this "re-education" module is what Muhyiddin needs to reform. I am willing to pay to be in that module. So, BTN - can or cannot, ah?

P 94 Hulu Selangor : First thoughts... sure no go

Now that the Election Commission has set the nomination date and polling date for P94, let's go for an initial walk there...

17th April is almost 3 weeks away and I wonder what makes EC to decide on 17th April as the nomination day? Carnival-like atmosphere, perhaps?

The first thing that crossed my mind is the possible candidates. This time I am not going for the indepth analysis on who and why he should be the candidate but I am basing on what I would like to see (which will never happen, of course)...

My first choice is for BN to choose Saiful Bahari to stand in P94. Saiful Bahari? Yes, that Saiful Bahari who met with Najib Razak on pretext of "scholarship" to "continue" his studies in one of the local unversities. This will be the best BN weapon to win P94 and for good measure, BN will use the Saiful Bukhari issue to challenge Anwar to stand in P94 on a mano to mano straight fight with Bukhari. It will be a tremendous moral win for BN because Anwar will never stand in P94. Reason? He is already an elected MP for Permatang Pauh and it is almost impossible for him to resign from Permatang Pauh to stand in P94. But that won't be an issue. The issue that BN will be harping is Anwar dare not stand in P94 to go against Saiful. Forget about the fact that Anwar could not stand in P94 as he is already an elected MP and even if he decides to resign from Permatang Pauh, he will be barred from contesting in the next 5 years...

My second choice is for BN to go for Muhammad Muhammad Taib to stand in P94. With 52.7 % malay voters in P94, Muhammad Muhammad Taib will use P94 as his platform to return actively into UMNO politics. BN can forget about Palanivel as he is already a wash-out and Muhammad Muhammad Taib will definitely brings the fireworks into P94 campaign. Issues like the Australian case, PERKASA will hog the spotlight and if Bagan Pinang is an example, Muhammad Muhammad Taib can be the "Selangor comeback kid" mirroring Isa Mad Samad in NS.

My third choice will then fall to G Palanivel. Palanivel will have an extra burden to carry. But winning P94 will be the catalyst he needs to dispose Samy Vellu. The question is - will Samy Vellu allow Palanivel to win P94 when he knows that a victory for Palanivel will be his political tomb? Palanivel will have trouble to win the heart of the Indians and he will have more problems to win the hearts of the non-Indians.

My next choice for BN? Muhyiddin may gloat that BN is spoilt with the many potential candidates but actually, selecting other than these three will mean BN has lost the fight before the bell rings.

Some may ask the logic of putting on Saiful Bukhari to stand in P94. Let me expand my reasoning further. Remember Loh Gwo Burne? He was practically a nobody before he expose the Lingam-gate video. What happen after that is history. Why not BN emulate PKR's strategy here? Afterall, isn't Anwar has been declaring that BN are taking pointers from PR in NEM? Saiful has make a devastating claim now known as sodomy II. And Saiful has been linked with 1MPM6, so why not use this opportunity to push Saiful forward to unleash his fury against Anwar and PR in P94. That will be a great day when Saiful can face off Anwar in Parliament, if and when he manage to win P94.

Further, an independent poll indicates that Najib has 69 % approval rating, higher than what he has a year before. So, why not combine his approval rating with Saiful's presence to win over P94? Winning P 94 will also means that BN is a vote closer to regaining their lost 2/3 majority.

So, what say you BN? care to put Saiful standing in P94? I bet, BN will not do that but hey...I just wish they would. I love to hear Saiful's juicy tales in P94 together with Ezam's boxes laced with Zahrain's acidic 16th Sept conspiracy topped up with Zul Nordin's "inside stories". Talking about that, why didn't BN named Ezam as their candidate? Or is Ezam a spent force within BN?

PR? It seems that their potential candidate list is growing by the hour. That either points out that they have such a talented bunch of potential candidates or it might also means that there are already serious infighting for a chance to be called YB...

Of Perak state assembly: Legally it's half settled...reminds me of half past sixes...

The past few days, I chose to take a slow loris ride in penning thoughts to this blog. There is one about MCA presidential election which is still on the works and maybe will not be completed... because MCA central delegates have failed to convince me that the new President is ethically correct and morally clean. For the time being, let MCA "terjun dengan batu tergantung ditengkuk".

As usual, Perak state assembly is fiery although the first day was relatively tame because Raja Muda of Perak was there to deliver the royal address. What's puzzling me is why should the fracas continue? Hasn't the courts delivered their judgement and recognise Zambry as the legally elected MB of Perak? Whether the courts are right or wrong is immaterial at this moment of time - and it is up to the relevant parties to interpret the laws as they deem fit and suit their arguements. For the time being, let's put aside the inefficiency of the courts to deliver their judgements on who is the legally-recognised speaker of Perak state assembly. As it is, no one can tell for sure when the case will be heard in courts - maybe a month after GE 13?

Now, why did the following happened during the sitting :-
  1. Why is there no debate of thanks on royal address? Did the BN-elected speaker put the debate on the agenda ie order of the day? Why didn't the speker addressed to this issue when repeatedly raised by PR lawmakers? Is it done on purpose? Is it done out of ignorance? Is it done because there is no more respect towards the royal house?;
  2. Zambry claimed that he was wooed by PR shortly after 308- is that true? Why did he reveal it now, after 2years? Why was there no police report lodged on this? What is Zambry's assets that make him "overly-precious" to PR? Who are the other 2 wooes by PR? Why must PR wooed these 3 if they have the majority at that time?;
  3. Not to be outdone, Jamaluddin Behrang also claimed that he was offered the MB's seat after 308. And his claims were carried "live" during TV3's Warta Perdana aired on 31st March 2010. What a way for Jamaluddin Behrang to celebrate April Fool by trying to make fools out of Perakians!
Looking at the issues raised, I believed that :-
  1. The BN-elected speaker should allow PR to raise standing orders 3,4 and 6 which challenged the legitimacy of the speaker. Then, with the house majority of Bn plus the three independents, Ganesan can be voted in as speaker. What is so difficult? Or rather, why make it so difficult? Unless BN do not have the majority quorum during the sitting or maybe BN is not confident that the three independents will vote in their favour;
  2. If BN-elected speaker has erred in by-passing debate on thanks to the royal address, this can be easily corrected by allowing the debate of thanks to take place. The speaker can even allocate time limit for debate of thanks. Is that so complicated? Why must it be complicated? Unless there is ulterior motives in by-passing debate of thanks on the royal address;
  3. Now comes the tricky part - it has been noted that HRH has not attended Perak assembly sitting since that fateful "BN take-over". Is HRH sick? Is he overseas? If he is, do he need to choose this particular date to be away from the state? Is he showing displeasure by not attending the assembly?;
  4. On Zambry's claim of being wooed - what is his assets to PR? Who is the PR leader who Zambry claimed made the offer? Which party is he supposed to join if he were to cross-over?;
  5. As for Jamaluddin's claim - just take it as your afternoon sip before siesta. There were discussions to appoint one of PKR's slected reps as the MB after 308. However, the idea was shot down when DAP prefer Nizar to lead the government based on his qualification and experience;
2 years have passed since 308. It is time for the elected reps to let pass issues that gripped the state for the past year. It is high time for both parties to discard ill-feelings and work on improving the welfare of Perakians, regardless of race, religion and political beliefs. Harping on past issues will not resolve anything - it will create more animosity and tension. More tension means higher blood pressure and that is not good. Unless someone is praying for by-elections in Perak...

PR elected reps missed their chances to raise issues in the assembly yesterday and since the speaker has adjourned the assembly sine dine, PR lawmakers has to bide their time to have another go in the state assembly. Maybe, just maybe, this time HRH Perak ruler will grace the opening ceremony. Can't be passing the buck to the regent all the time...

Ah...yes..it seems that Malaysian politics are going the modelling and fashion way ie introducing eye-catching fashion for the year and the season. For year 2010, the in-thing is to openly declare "I have been wooed by PR" or "I have been promised by PR for...." Now, it's Perak, which will be next? Zambry and Jamaluddin had came forward to put their claims, who will be next on the catwalk? Will it be Tajol Rosli? As for the states, will Selangor be the next state with another round of bombastic exposures and claims?

That's all for now, folks. Got to catch some sleep now that the adrenalin of watching Arsenal grabbing a draw against Barcelona has succumbed. Time to catch quality sleep before enjoying the fruits in Hulu Selangor... ah, time to make some calls to long-lost "friends" there ...

For Kartika : the journey ends here...temporarily

Finally, after months of dilly dally, HRH Sultan of Pahang has commuted the whipping sentence for Kartika. Instead, she will be ordered to perform community services for a duration of three weeks.

As HRH is the ketua agama Islam in Pahang, his decision should be respected. Afterall, he is answerable to al-Mighty on his decision.

Let's not draw comparison between what happen to Kartilka with those seven caned in Kajang.
