The six months I have asked for is to help 1MDB in regards to slashing its debt and solving a few problems on the rationalisation process

First, it was 2 months. That's what 1MPM6 ask for to solve controversies surrounding 1MDB issue. He promised UMNO leaders and pro-establishment NGO 2 months to solce the controversies and he said that back in June 2015. To be fair to him, Najib says 2 months the earliest and pledged a time frame of between 2 to 6 months.

Now, 3 months later, 1MPM6 Najib is asking 6 months to solve 1MDB's financial problems.

Before we go any further, the UMNO supreme council meeting yesterday is a non-event. No blast, no dynamite statements. But...wait... what about the body language between the two? Any hints?

Do you notice the following :-

1. Shahrizat's face - she is not happy with the handshake and she is looking Muhyiddein's way;
2. Hishamudein Hussein - he looks worried;
3. Najib - Forced smile;
4. Muhyiddein - Cynical;
5. On the handshake itself, it looks staged whereby there is no warmth between the two. Both parties is just touching the tip of the other party's hand.

Maybe time to see the expert and hear what they have to say on the body language.

Enough of body language, let's look at what the SUPREME council meeting and the outcome :-

1. Muhyiddein and Shafie Afdal not sacked nor suspended from UMNO;
2. Discussed on the public fallout on RM Billion dollar donation;
3. Najib ask for 6 months to solve 1MDB financial problems to slashing its debts and solving few problems on rationalisation plans;

Now, let's speculate on the points above :-

1. What is the reason for non-action against Muhyiddein and Shafie afdal? If Najib can remove Muhyiddein from DPM post, then why is he hesistant to do the same and strip Muhyiddein/Shafie Afdal from their respective political post?;
2. Is Najib systematically isolated and he has no choice but to seek an uneasy truce with 2 of his fiercest internal critics?;
3. It's all system haywire when the execution failed to materialise and it's back to the drawing boards for Najib and Co;
4. A deal has been brokered between the 2 parties with a timeframe of 6 months. Notwithstanding the timeframe, anything can happen at critical milestones of October Parliamentary sitting and UMNO GM in December;

Some say the third force is getting the upperhand. That's what they say but the scene outide PWTC is a minor tell tale sign of what's coming up next.



What is bothering Najib on his home turf? What makes him choose the rear entrance?

My newfound friend was upset when 1MPM6 decided to skip delivering keynote address during the recently concluded ICAC. In fact, this friend said that 1MPM6 should bundled out the outspoken speaker who ticked Najib on the "donation" issue. Now, the one who claimed to have Bugis warrior blood in him opts to enter "jalan belakang" into his own party HQ where he is President? This is not the way of a warrior!!!

By the way, first it was 2 months, now 6 months. Is that the time for Malaysians to forget? Melayu mudah lupa, Cina takkan lupa, Maybe India lupa lupa... Whilst Malaysia is in all sorts of challenges, from politics, sports, economy and such, Singapore will be going to the polls tomorrow. Will S'ore opposition takes a leaf of PR's success in 2013? If that happens, I like to see DAP's reaction and comments. DAP talked about equality nd all inclusive Malaysian Malaysia, what have they got to say to Singapore's non inclusiveness? One interesting subject which will be touched on in coming months...

Someone, somewhere used to say "Kalau takut pada ribut, jangan berumah ditepi laut" or something along that line. Me? I love the challenges and would have wade across the boisterous UMNO crowd yesterday in PWTC because the sounds will remind me of the magic words...

Of bulls and timber = Got to go...

And who better to sum it all up if not Najwa Muhyiddein who sang "got to go"... at least she is frank when she sings that song. I wonder whether her father gets the message or not...or does her father's boss listen to the song and understand the meaning?Bung Karno also wants Shahrizat out, maybe Bung Karno should sings "got to go" in parliament to get his message across...

A tale of two cities? Nah... too far fetch.

Charles Dickens wrote of "once upon a time" aristocrat who became a victim despite his virtuos nature. Definitely this is not applicable to back door minister! Worse, the "pass the buck" game has started with MACC passing the ball to others as the so called NFC issue falls outside MACC act 2009. That's what you get when you have politician cum lawyers outlying our national policy and legislation. They will do whatever they can to "grey" all areas that might affect them and at the same time engage with legal jargons to drag the system - all for their advantage! And isn't our back door minister a lawyer too, by qualification?

But then again, just because we agree to collectively agree that the present day government's shelflife has expired, that does not mean that whatever comes from their groins are just as bad as the parents (or should I say the father). Just because the government of the day victimise the rakyats through and through by siphoning monies from our country's coffers, that does not mean that everyone is rotten to the core.

Yes, Nazifuddin is Najib's son but he did not grow up with his father around. Najib choose to opt for RosCTmah and left Nazifuddin with his mum when the kid was only 4 years old back in 1987. Do you think Najib cares about Nazifuddin when he was busy charting his political course and leashed by RosCTmah?

Yes, Nazifuddin may have some "connections" to get on Harvest court board but definitely that does not come, courtesy of Najib. That said, I feel it is unfair to heap Nazifuddin in the same basket as 1MPM6 Najib.

Bulls for the back door minister and timber for Najib's son, both expose the weakness in our system where the playing fields differ based on who you are. With Najib sitting down poring through potential BN's candidates, let's make a resolution - oust BN in the coming election.

Of "Rojak English" ...

Malaysian Insider's "Wary of flip-flop tag, Cabinet dithers over English" worth a second look. Shall we?

MI reported that "The Najib administration has not decided on switching back to English for Science and Mathematics (PPSMI) because several Cabinet ministers feel any change would be another embarrassing flip-flop."Now, enlighten me. How many of these "several" cabinet ministers are new? Isn't Najib's cabinet an extension of Pak Lah's outfit? That means, it's the same old guys with maybe, minor re-branding. Thus, what embarrassment are they mentioning about? If Pak Lah's cabinet is a flip-flop organisation, then these same clowns are still flip-flopping on PPSMI.

Look at the whole scenario from another context. The common point is English. Whilst the government is flip flopping on PPSMI, did you guys notice the various statements made by both Muhyiddein and Najib on English teachers? In part, Muhyiddein announced it would hire 10,000 teachers to teach English in local schools and Najib got a promise from the US of A to send peace corps volunteers to teach the language (English) in the country.

Basically both Najib and Muhyiddin touch on the common subject of increasing the number of English teachers. Yet in the same vein, both Najib and Muhyiddin is taking different routes to the issue. Muhyiddin is looking to New Zealand and Australia as base for those selected few who will be teaching English is schools. Najib, on the other hand, will be getting US peace corps to teach English in rural schools.

Now, this is where number one and number two is seen to be same but different. Yes, both looks to oversea nation to generate English teachers BUT Muhyiddin prefers to train our own local population English, Najib prefers to outsource to US of A to send the teachers. Not only that, Najib should know by now that the peace corps is an American volunteer programme that aims to provide technical assistance, helping foreigners understand US culture and helping Americans understand the cultures of other countries.

The question is - is the peace corps programme beneficial to us? These peace corps volunteers are not here on long term duration. They are here for maybe one or two years before leaving for home. How effective can one be to teach English in a space of 2 years? And my biggest concern is - are we using British English or are we using US English? Or is 1MPM6 Najib saying that we are rojak English? Will we be spelling favor or favour? Will we be pronouncing mountain or mount'n? If we are already half lost with the local English, where will we be with a mix of British, US, local English?

Another big concern is the clash of culture between the east and the west. Najib said that these peace corps will be sent to rural areas. I dread to think of the worst but I do not want to end up saying " I told you so". Remember the Penans? If a strong local influence can "pursuade" findings, then just imagine what a powerful government like "big brother" can do if their volunteers end up "deflowering " our students? Not urban students where the elites and the rich are concentrated but rural areas where our poors and simple-minded are massing.

As an example is the Vietnam experience. Due to high demand to learn English, many US of A young folks flocked to Ho Chi Minh city making a living as "English tutors". At nights, you can see them in the sidewalk coffee shops, making noises and disturbing the peace. Just ask those Vietnamese if they like it or not. On one occassion, I saw the coffee shop owner closing the blinds of her shop to rid the so-called English tutors only to open it back after they have left the scene!

As it is, not only the cabinet is flip-flopping the idea of PPSMI but at the same time do not even know the difference between British English and US English! And yet we are wondering out loud on the quality of our students! Well, maybe 1MPM6 Najib is aiming to introduce Rojak English to the world... and we have not even touch the weird English slang of internet yet....

Of maids and illegals : Malaysia's goodwill...again?

The point is simple - there are Malaysians who are now getting less than what the foreign maids are getting. If this is allowed to continue, then the income disparity will widen more. It is time for a strong political will to resolve the issue and bring up the standards of our own Malaysian citizens. Give them training, provide assistance and chances. Nobody wants to remain poor... no one wants to bring home a take home pay of RM 33 per month, do you?

One marinates meat not issues. A week has passed us by but this writer did not see any posting on Indonesian maid issue. Did Sibu P212 by-election result eclipsed this small but important issue? Or has Malaysians become complacent and take it as a non-issue?

1MPM6 Najib, fresh from BN's defeat in P212 met with Indonesia's SBY on 18th May 2010 and later witnessed the signing of LOI on new terms of Indonesians maids. Amongst others, it is said that :-

1. Indonesian maids will get a day off a week;
2. If the maid decided to forgo her off days, she will be compensated in lieu of it;
   
3. The maids will be allowed to keep their passports if the employers agree;
4. There are suggestions that the maids salary be increased up to 80 % of the present value of between RM 450 ~ RM 550 monthly;
5. There are currently 400,000 foreign maids in Malaysia, out of which 300,000 comes from Indonesia;
6. There are an estimated 2.5 million Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia;
   

Let's not argue about the figures provided by the MSMs. Instead, let's look inward and capture the predicaments faced in our own backyard :-

1. How many of us read about a plantation worker whose April's take home pay is RM 33?. His gross salary was approximately RM 364.96;
2. What about Kampung Kandang Lembu, Hulu Selangor which received such prominence during Hulu Selangor by-election? One person interviewed there survived on RM 150 monthly income to feed her grandchildren. Where is Kamalanathan, now that he won the parliamentary seat? What is he going to do about it? Where is Rozali of Syabas who promised to provide piped water to the folks in Hulu Selangor? Has he decided to by-pass the village?
3. Under current agreement, plantation labourers are ensured a minimum monthly wage of RM 350 which is 22 % lower than the Indonesian maids;
4. Only 5 % of the plantation owners implement housing scheme for estate workers although it has been introduced since 1973 or 37 years ago under Tun Razak House ownership scheme. Now, his son (1MPM6 Najib) has taken over the reins and yet, the plantation workers are still a neglected lot;
5. A restaurant worker in Sibu survived on RM 400 monthly wage which is 11 % lower than what the Indonesian maids are currently getting;
   

Now, where are we heading? This writer would be happier if there are concerted efforts to upgrade these poor and neglected Malaysians. It seems that the powers-to-be are prone to "Kera dihutan disusukan, anak dirumah mati kelaparan" attitude. Will it not be better if :-

1. The relevant ministries train our own domestic helpers and cater our own needs? This move will improve the livelihood of our own poor and at the same time increase their income;
2. The move to train our own domestic helper will reduce currency outflow where the Indonesians maids transferred their income back to their country. This will reduce currency exchange and outflow;
3. By introducing Malaysia's own domestic helpers, it may accelerate mutual understanding between our cross cultures and religions;
4. 300,000 Indonesian maids means that we are paying RM 150M monthly wages to these maids which adds up to RM 1.8B annually. Malaysia can keep this money to circulate our own economy. Is there any need to "allow" RM 1.8B economy to be generated in other countries?;
5. Having a day off weekly will also invite more social problems. What are the social problems? You and I are all adults and a simple 2 + 2 = 4. Do I need to say more? Is Malaysia ready to face these additional social problems created by foreign maids? As is, Malaysia has more than enough problems to cope, why do we need these additional problems?;
   

Those are few preliminary suggestions and can be expanded further if needed. Why are the authorities in such a goodwill and generous mood?

Just the other day,DPM Muhyiddin announced the third amnesty program involving illegal foreigners who work in Malaysia. The first two amnesty took place in 2002 and 2004. But that is not all. Muhyiddin mentioned :-

1. The government will soon offer amnesty to hundreds of thousands of illegal foreign workers to return home without facing action;
2. Levies will be increased from 2011 based on sectors and workers' skills;
3. Integrated biometric identification system would have to be in place before the programme could be implemented;
4. Introduction of new regulations to curb problem of illegal workers;
5. Government will act against those who harbour illegal workers without permit;
6. Foreign illegal workers work mainly in plantations, construction sites, factories, restaurants and domestic maid sector;
   

Malaysia is truly generous. After two previous amnesty, we are still dishing out the third amnesty. Why? Is it necessary? What has our Ministry of Human Resources got to say on this matter? Is Malaysia really short of workers are are the employers practising selective employing to the advantage of the illegal foreign workers?

Talk about plantation workers, we have seen how our own domestic plantation workers receive measly take home pay, far lower than Indonesian maids. Talk about construction sites, we read about low cost flats going to the rich. Do Malaysia still needs massive construction works? Have we not reached the saturation state yet?

Talk about factories, how do we explain why Vietnam seems to offer better perks and incentives to investors? How do we compete with Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia when our labour and living cost is much higher than those countries?

Talk about restaurants and the first picture that flashes through are the mamaks in Kayu, Pelita restaurants taking orders. I am sure we have enough work force to do that but why do these restaurants offer the vacancies to their own kind? A monopoly of sorts?

Domestic maid? Would it not be better to train our own domestic maid?

Briefly on this amnesty programme conjured by Muhyiddin. Is it really necessary? Shouldn't it be time for Malaysians to take tougher stand on this issue? We have been softies in dealing with the issue. Is it because of the hidden hands behind the illegals? Twice in 2002 and 2004 and we are going for the third amnesty. Will it be fourth, fifth, sixth? Looks more like star wars installations than government policy....

Saudi Arabia tackle their illegals hard. Those caught harbouring, either knowingly or unknowingly illegals will have the said properties confiscated and fined heavily. Although it is seen to be harsh but that move works in Saudi Arabia. Why can't Malaysia follow the model?

Muhyiddin's "1 Malay" vs Najib's 1Malaysia

1. For politicians, language is their tools of the trade. A slip of the tongue and all hell may nreak loose. Remember the time when Mahathir was alledgedly quoted "We will shoot them" when he later clarified that he said "We will shoo them"? or remember the longstanding joke on Samy Vellu saying "Saya suka buka kain..." when officiating events that calls him to draws the curtain?
2. That was then. Now comes Muhyiddin with what may be the blooper of the decade when he said that "he is a Malay first then a Malaysian" in reponse to Lim KS's challenge in Parliament on 31st March 2010.
3. 1MPM6 defended Muhyiddin's statement a day later and that Muhyiddin does not contradict his commitment to 1Malaysia concept. Wah! Easier said than done!
4. My non-Malay friends are not happy with Muhyiddin and some of them simply said "Moo-yiddin" "cerdik macam lembu". My Kedah friends said that what Moo-yiddin uttered in parliament is equivalent to what Aziz, the ex=UMNO youth leader did when he threatened to burn down the Kuala Lumpur assembly hall. If Kedah can reject Aziz during GE 12, then it will be no surprise if Malaysians decide to reject BN in GE 13.
5. A Malay proverb "Kerana mulut, badan binasa" is waiting to happen on Muhyiddin.Muhyiddin cannot claim that he is cornered by Lim KS as he has all the time in the world to repond to Lim's question. What Muhyiddin uttered is a reflection of his conviction and I see it as a conviction which is not inline with 1MPM6's 1M's concept.
6. As the DPM, Muhyiddin should have chosen his words carefully. He did not do so.Why? Is he sending a message to PERKASA? Is he loading his gun to gun down 1MPM6? Is Muhyiddin banking on Merdeka centre's survey that roughly 65 % Malays agree with PERKASA? Is Muhyiddin purposely de-railing 1MPM6's 1M concept?
7. Look at PERKASA. Nazri Aziz say that PERKASA are opportunists whilst Najib says that PERKASA is not extreme. Does Nazri says what he says because Mahathir is in PERKASA side? Does Najib say what he says to avoid direct confrontation with Mahathir? Are they referring PERKASA to Mahathir and not Ibrahim Ali? Will the real PERKASA stand up?
8. Why is Muhyiddin taking the "1 Malay" path? Has Muhyiddin disregards his press officer's advice? Or has he forgotten the art of communication?
9. My friends further retorted and said that they will declare they are Chinese (or Indians) first before they say Malaysians the next time they go abroad. Frankly, I smiled at their suggestion. However, deep down, I fear this issue will be blown out of proportion and out of control. Simply, What is wrong in saying "I am Malaysian of Malay (or Chinese or Indian or Kadazan or Dusun) origin"?
10. What is so difficult in that? Being a Malay is not an automatic qualification that you are Malaysian. Don't come and tell me that a Malay from the Cocos island is a Malaysian and don't come running to justify that a Malay from Seychelles island is also a Malaysian. By the same reasoning, being a Chinese or Indian or Kadazan or Dusun or whatever does not qualify them as "pendatang". A Chinese or an Indian or Kadazan or Dusun or whatever born in Malaysia is a Malaysian. Period.
11. It is a risky thing if Muhyidin (and for this matter the government) thinks that all Malays are automatically Malaysians. No wonder, we have illegals setting taking over our commercial districts in Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu and the rest of the country. Heck, I don't even know whether Nilai is in Malaysia or in Pakistan, anymore based on the numbers of Pakistani traders there. What about the "colonies" sprouting like mushrooms in KL's urban jungle? It is said that some illegal colonies at the city's fringes are manned by "look-outs" to relay warnings on impeding raids. Just go to any construction site and you will see the illegals "housing scheme" aka kongsi.
12. Muhyiddin and 1MPM6 talked about 1Malaysia. Are they really seriously taking actions to guard the welfare of Malaysians? Do they realise how many Malaysian girls fall prey to the smooth-talking non-Malaysians? How many Malaysians were duped by the lure of black money? And goodness sake, can someone tell me why is that "Billionaire" Ellie Najeem still around? Haven't we have enough of him? Or is there some hidden hands working hard to grant him extended stay in Malaysia?
13. 1 Malay, 1 Chinese, 1 Indian, 1 Kadazan, 1 Dusun, 1 whatever bears no consequence. What Malaysia should be aiming for is to build a Malaysian nation, rich in tradition, superb in performance, par excellence in productivity, unmatched in income. So far, the government has failed us in providing what we want. So far, it's all talk, talk and more talks. Talks of liberation, talks of high income, talk of transperancy, talks of competency but most of them are still in working stage. So, as one US ad says "Where's the beef?".
14. Back to Muhyiddin. It is time for Muhyiddin to be "re-educated". Will BTN be able to come up with a special module to "reform" Muhyiddin? If BTN is working on that, may I make a small request? Will BTN work on a special module to accomodate Muhyiddin along with a class of say 25 and let the rest of the module members come from non-Malays? Better still, can we make it a module with non-Malay speakers - just for Muhyiddin?
15. Muhyiddin may be busy but I trust this "re-education" module is what Muhyiddin needs to reform. I am willing to pay to be in that module. So, BTN - can or cannot, ah?

DPM sir : Its better to keep quiet than to talk nonsense...

2 statements in 1 day is enough. DPM sir, my advise is simple - It's better to keep quiet than to talk nonsense. You see, someone use to say - the emptiest drums makes the loudest noise. There is also another Malay saying "Jadilah resmi padi, lagi menjadi lagi tunduk" which literally means be humble in everything. The more knowledgeable you are, the more humble you should be....

1. Politicians. If you give then a microphone, they can talk until the cows come home. Someone told me that a good example of this is one PM from Asean country (hint : start from C) who will talk for hours in his speech.
2. The same goes for Malaysian politicians. Give them a microphone and they will talk. Provide them with media reporters and they will issue statements. Some are relevant but most are craps. For now, let's focus on 2 crappy statements from our DPM.
3. First off is the Bernama report on "Muhyiddin" order (instructed) Kota Siputeh Rep to attend assembly sitting" taglined 12th November 2009. NST, Star, The Sun carries the report too...
   
4. The gist of the reports are :-
   • Muhyiddin instructed Kota Siputeh assemblyman to attend state assembly (Kedah) sitting;
   • the state assembly sitting is scheduled on Tuesday (17th November 2009);
   • BN concurred with EC which ruled there was no vacancy for Kota Siputeh;
   • Kedah speaker (Dr Abd Isa) has filed for judicial review on the EC decision;
     

5. Now, let's see the counterarguments :-
   • Granted that the Kota Siputeh assemblyman declared that he is now an independent assembly man and BN-friendly, that does not mean that he is a BN member. He maybe BN-friendly but he may also opt out to support PR if he feels that it will benefit the people. So, the question is - who do DPM think he is to instruct the said assemblyman to attend the assembly sitting? On what standing was the instruction given? Would it not be better if the DPM advises the assemblyman to attend the sitting?
   • how can Muhyiddin said that BN concurred with EC on the decision? Does EC has locus standing? Can EC be the judge and executioner of election laws?
   • why must Muhyiddin jumps the gun? The sun reported that the high court will decide whether a fresh election for Kota Siputeh is necessary or not this Monday 16th November 2009;
   • Since the state assembly sitting will only start from 17th November whilst the high court will give its decision on Monday 16th November, then Muhyiddin should not have jumped the gun. What if the high court decides in favour of Dr Abd Isa (PR)? Will Muhyiddin and BN issue a statement to say that BN did not concur with the court's decision? Is Muhyiddin implying that legislative powers supercedes judiciary powers (when it comes to court decision)?
     

6. On the same day, Bernama reported "Opposition supporting 1Malaysia concept, says Muhyiddin". The media report, in a nutshell :-
   • The 1Malaysia concept receive the support of...including leaders of opposition parties;
   • the 1M concept is not merely political rhetoric;
   • the 1M concept has been implemented as a new policy by BN;
   • Nik Aziz only knows how to pray but does not know how to administer;
     

7. Tsk tsk....a dangerous statement indeed DPM sir. Consider these :-
   • The backbone parties for BN are UMNO (United Malays National Organisation), MCA (Malaysian Chinese Association), MIC (Malaysian Indian Congress). As stated by their political names, these parties are purely race-based. UMNO, in their plans to expand their wings to Sabah (and "take over" Sabah state government) widen their base to include Bumiputras from Sabah. Is this 1M concept?
   • Compare that to the parties forming the loose PR-coalition of DAP (Democratic Action Party), PAS (Parti Islam seMalaysia), PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat). Even their political names has already suggested that their parties are open to all Malaysians. PAS is open to all Malaysian muslims. So, who mooted the 1M concept first? UMNO or DAP/PAS?;
   • Even in forging relationship between the various races and ethnics, PR has put these ideas forward during Mar 2008 elections. BN, only coined the term after 1MPM6 Najib was sworn in as the PM. Who copies who now, DPM sir?;
   • when Muhyiddin says that 1M is a new BN policy, this scribe just jumps off the roof...whoa....Muhyiddin, are you telling us that BN never works towards 1M since BN inception in 1970s? Are you telling us that Perikatan government never works towards an integrated Malaysia since 1963? Are you admitting to us now that BN is only starting to wotk on 1M in 2009, after 46 years of (formation) of Malaysia?;
   • regardless of political standings, Nik Aziz is a reverred religous scholar and teacher. He regularly teaches every Friday morning. Muhyiddin, didn't anybody tell you not to belittle religous teacher/scholar? I, for one, feel deeply offended when Muhyiddin gives that statement. If he feels that Nik Aziz is not up to his marks (as an administrator), then explain how did Nik Aziz administer Kelantan for the past 18 years? Is Muhyiddin implying that Kelantan survives the last 18 years on doas and prayers alone?
     

8. 2 statements in 1 day is enough. DPM sir, my advise is simple - It's better to keep quiet than to talk nonsense. You see, someone use to say - the emptiest drums makes the loudest noise. There is also another Malay saying "Jadilah resmi padi, lagi menjadi lagi tunduk" which literally means be humble in everything. The more knowledgeable you are, the more humble you should be....

D N41 : T -7, The buck stops hereeeee...

Muhyiddin says The bucks stop here...Wonder what it means?

1. First thing first. That's not a coded posting. D N41 stands for D (Kelantan car plate number, N41 stands for Manek Urai state seat number. T -7 is the countdown (in days) to Manek Urai's by-election. Comprendo? Ok, now on to the posting :)
   
2. Muhyiddin Yassin must be dreamy when he said the buck stops here as picked up by Malaysiakini today.
3. In earlier posting, this scribe has mentioned that Muhyiddin is trying to better his records from the current standing of 1 win 2 losses since he first took up the Deputy Premier's post.
4. Muhyiddin is obviously not pleased with BN's (read UMNO's) commitment to Manek Urai thus far. Is this the General's voice of despair after comparing the turnouts between UMNO and PAS supporters at yesterday's nomination centre?
5. In part, Muhyiddin :-
   • wants Manek Urai to be the start of reversal of BN's fortunes in by-elections;
   • wants BN (read UMNO) to win Manek Urai's by-election;
   • reprimanded party workers for turning up late to join the BN entourage to the nomination centre;
   • ask "why let the General to arrive first" ?;
   • wants all UMNO wings to double their efforts;
   • wants at least 1 % increase in support for the party;
   • wants to win the hearts of the people;
   • is using the tagline "Rakyat didahulukan, Manek Urai diutamakan" ;

6. Now that we have Muhyiddin's gist of statements, let's see what Muhyiddein is saying...
7. Manek Urai to be the start of reversal of BN's fortunes in by-elections wants BN (read UMNO) to win Manek Urai's by-election

   Muhyiddin choose the wrong place to make that statement. It may be safe if he were to make that statement in Johor but in Kelantan? Kelantan has been under PAS's rule for the past 18 years and surviving even without the "blue-eyed" treatment from the federal government. Muhyiddin will have an uphill task to win Manek Urai for BN. Not impossible but extremely difficult.
   

8. reprimanded party workers for turning up late to join the BN entourage to the nomination centre

   The first question is why are the party workers late? Are they too tired after arriving late? Have they been partying the night before? Have they lost their way? Unfortunately, all these reasoning could not be accepted because Manek Urai is as alien to BN as they are to PAS supporters. If PAS supporters can wake up to the call of Azan, why can't BN (read UMNO) supporters did the same? Unless, BN supporters are not used to early wake-up call, despite their many campings and excursions. If that is true, then it points to indiscipline. And if BN (read UMNO) supporters are indiscipline, then why should we give our trust to indisciplined people?
   

9. "why let the General to arrive first"

   Before Muhyiddin can openly make that statement, he should look himself into the mirror and ask that question to himself - how many times has Muhyiddin being punctual in official events when he is the VVIP? How many minutes or hours do guests and participants has to wait for his "grand" appearance? Furthermore, has his "lieutenants" and "sergeant majors" pass the message to the downlines on what time and where is the rendzevous point? UMNO has former army staffs working in their headquarters helmed by Tengku Adnan. If this simple chore cannot be properly executed, then what else can be expected from UMNO? The "General" is doomed to fail without his army and that will be a pitiful scene as there are ever-ready vultures ready to pounce on Muhyiddin's failure.
   

10. wants all UMNO wings to double their efforts
    wants at least 1 % increase in support for the party

    TV3 showed that Shahrizat was in Manek Urai together with KJ, both heading their respective wings. Does this mean that both did not trust their "second-in-command"? And where is the "Putra" head?

    Shahrizat has been heard to comment that only BN provides the basic amenities to the rakyat and belittle PAS for knowing to talk but no action taken. First, Shahrizat must understand that BN did not provide the basic amenities. The present government of the day provides it and that is not out of their own party's pocket but from the taxes and the duties impossed on the rakyat. It is the government's duty to provide the basics. So the question is, is the basics enough? Can better amenities be provided? Is the cost for providing the amenities correct or inflated to feed BN (read UMNO) contractors?

    On 1 % increase in support for BN candidate, let's do some basic calculation based on 2008 election results. During 2008, BN managed to secure 4,394 votes. If Muhyiddin is calling for 1% increase, that will be translated to 44 votes, making BN's target of 4,438. And if 75 % voter turnout n 14th July 2009, then 9,219 will cast their votes. That means PAS still wins the by-election with 4,781 votes ( a reduced majority of 343). But the fact remains, PAS still wins the by-election.
    

11. wants to win the hearts of the people
    "Rakyat didahulukan, Manek Urai diutamakan

    Muhyiddin may be going for the hearts of the people but when he change 1M PM6's tagline, then all the hypocricy is exposed. It bares that BN is only after their votes, afterwhich Manek Urai will be hang dry.
    

12. Yes,the buck's stop here. We are not talking about Buck of the Ice Age 3 fame nor the buck as in male stag. We are talking about buck as in money. BN should stop enticing the voters with money which is akin to vote buying. BN should realise by now that they are backpedalling too long because they employ the same strategy as they used to 50 years ago. It is already an outdated strategy.
13. Muhyiddin may have realised that he is running an uphill battle when the General failed to instill fighting spirit to his disspirited soldiers. If you do not believe, try watching the youtube's video on BN's march to the nomination centre. It is a tell tale sign of a broken army. No fighting spirit, no enthusiasm, no life...even the "salawat" is barely audible...
14. BN may have a big well oiled machinery but the way it's going, BN's machinery is bogged down helplessly in Manek Urai. BN's fighters are more interested in talking about the "opportunities" on the other side of the border.
15. Mustapha Mohamed wants BN to wins the by-election because he needs to show his report card to the boss in KL. His predecessor may be working to make BN's candidate lose so that he can appeal his position to the same boss in KL.
16. Tuan Aziz may be working tirelessly to win the seat but the other 2 "finalists" are ready to trip him along the way. The only thing that BN can hope for is another "big" announcement from PAS's Nasharuddin Isa, if that can be worked out. But, as Muhyiddin says - The bucks stop here...
17. And before this scribe called it a day, another sifu blogger Kickdefella will be exposing his version on the buck stops here, beginning tomorrow where he will be exposing the bare facts on Kelantan oil.

1Malaysia TPM : What is said, what it means, what is understood...

1 Malaysia's TPM was interviewed by Mingguan Malaysia and he came out a failure! But then again, being a politician he will always be right and the media will always be wrong for misquoting him. Is this what our 1 Malaysia PM meant by "public come first, performance oriented" cabinet?

Why is Lim Kit Siang crying fault? Key Chinese dailies published Muhyiddin’s comments in their frontpage headlines such as ‘Muhyiddin – Chinese ungrateful to BN’ (Sin Chew Daily), ‘Chinese fooled Barisan Nasional. Muhyiddin – Get benefits but do not vote in support” (Nanyang Siang Pau) and ‘BN feels tricked. Muhyiddin - Satisfy Chinese demands, still no support’ (China Press) and yet Muhyiddin claims that he is misquoted. If that is so, something must be seriously wrong with our education system ie Chinese based editors are collectively not well versed in Bahasa Malaysia. Is this true?

Amongst others, Mingguan Malaysia quoted Muhyiddin saying

Ini yang mungkin menyebabkan sukar BN mendapat sokongan walaupun kita fikir bila mereka hendak sekolah Cina dibantu, kita bantu, sepatutnya mereka membalas budi. (loosely translanted " This may be the reason why BN has difficulty to get the support although we think that when they want Chinese schools needs support, we support them, by right they (the Chinese) should repay the kindness)

Has Muhyiddin failed to realise that providing financial aids to schools are part and parcel of the Government's responsibility? Afterall, the aid and support poured is not BN's monies but taken from the rakyat and the Government's coffers.

In response to the Chinese dailies, Muhyiddin remarked

"If you (the journalists) don't understand Bahasa, I can send you to school to understand it."

Maybe it is high time for Najib to make decision, sending all his cabinet members, including his DPM, back to Bahasa Malaysia classes. If they cannot speak clearly, at least teach them how to conduct interviews without hurting others or as Najib says "ethnic silos".

Since Muhyiddin is both the DPM and the Education Minister, it will be easy for Muhyiddin to find good tutors, don't you think so? By the way, what will our super Tsu Koon do since he is in charge of racial harmony?

It has been less than 2 weeks since the cabinet members took their oath of office, yet 1 Malaysia's no 2 man fails miserably. So when will the KPIs' be announced so that the rakyat can audit the ministers?
